Where Suzanne and Bas have their first Honduran experience: a real (European!) neighbour-fight . . .

So we crossed the border and despite of what L.P. says it was a pan comida/ peace of cake/ koekie. By the way, dont use L.P. Central America on a shoestring. And if you do, dont use it as a travel guide. Heading for Omoa! Omoa is a quiet, sleepy village by the sea (2.500 habitants) that nestles round a curving bay with soft, white sand. There is a fort that is worth visiting, but thats all; its the right place to just lay back and relax. In Guatemala we already noticed a lot of posters advertising for the only two backpackers-hangouts that exist in Omoa: Rolis (Swiss) and Pias (Dutch). We got picked up at the bus stop by representatives of both but decided to go and have a look at Pias place first. Sitting in the car she immediately informed us about Rolis bad behaviour and all the terrible things he done to her and the locals. The story would be a lot longer if I explained why we stayed for the night but ended up at Rolis the next day, so I wont bother you with that. The thing is, at Rolis the situation was quit similar. He published a fax addressed to Pia (send by the mayor) inviting her to come and talk with the municipal about complaints they received about her. It would have been nice if we had had a video-camera just to record all this funny stuff so they could see themselves on the internet and maybe realise how childish theyve been acting.

Finally, we ended up at Rolis going kayaking on the Caribbean, having a real serious table-tennis competition, playing backgammon and preparing food ourselves (its great to be able to prepare your own meal once in a while). And of course we laid back and relaxed: just doing some reading and drinking liquados while swinging in a hammock

So where would we be heading next? The only passenger-train in Honduras runs twice a week between a city near Omoa and Tela and is originally designated for banana-transportation. Nowadays, on Fridays and Sundays its a passenger train that passes a real beautiful part of the country. Well, the next day was Sunday, so we decided to go to Tela.

In Tela it rained quit a lot so we just visited one of the Garifuna-villages and hang around with some Canadians we met. Proxima estacion: Copan! (esperanza)

This is the kitchen at Roli's. Suzanne is just wandering what to prepare for dinner tonight.
